Sahra Devon 25.04.09I have been using a Pfaff since 1990 and have never felt the need to upgrade as that machine did everything I wanted. I find the instruction book very clearly written and easy to understand although there are some areas it could go into a bit more detail. The Pfaff QE4 has the same functions, without the embroidery of course, as the Creative Vision. It has all of the features that I enjoy with my old Pfaff but there was enough new technology to seduce me into purchasing the new machine. What to single out? I especially enjoy the presser foot lift options “ if you select the needle down position then when you pause sewing the presser foot lifts enough for you to pivot the fabric then as soon as you start sewing it drops down again. Alternatively you can lift it high and then higher again to go over bulky fabric; then there is the fabric snips option, the sensomatic freemotion sewing; the range of buttonholes (11 in all) and a beautiful range of 9mm stitches included in the 222 different stitch options; the needle positions (a staggering 37 or 38 - I lost count); a whole host of tapering options; the enhanced lighting and of course the large working area to the right of the needle. The sequence and personal stitch memory settings are good in that you can include tie off options if required. There\'s too much more to mention here. The settings for each of the stitches available are preset but you can change any part of the stitch if you wish - ie, the width, length, tension, density, positioning or balance. You can change the presser foot pressure if you wish. The sensomatic free motion quilting is very good indeed and I don\'t get skipped stitches, ever. The handlook quilting stitches, using monofilament thread, are very nice.
John Powell 11.08.09Excellent machine for high-end general use. Easy to use (even for a returner to needlework). Light arrangements could be better, but even with fingers like sausages the ergonomics are easy to use. Threading and bobbin filling are so easy. Sensible range of stitches and functions. Free arm effective and useful
