Kericho District Hospital in Kenya is the beneficiary of African expedition<\/h2>\n

Palma, Managing Director of GUR Sewing Machines, recently returned from a hugely motivating trip to Africa – climbing\u00a0Mount Kilimanjaro as part of the Nishkam Challenge<\/a>\u00a0– an expedition that was made possible thank to the generous support of Brother Sewing Machines<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A group described as comprising of “ordinary individuals”<\/em> consisted of nineteen people with no professional trackers who came together with the sole aim of supporting\u00a0Kericho District Hospital in Kenya.<\/p>\n

The group first became aware of the plight of the Kericho community a couple of years ago when they learned of \u00a0the terrible circumstances afflicting them – that mothers and babies were dying in the hospital because of a lack of facilities and equipment.<\/p>\n

Welcome support from Brother<\/h3>\n

Preparations for the expedition began many months before the group set out. A huge boost was provided to the group’s efforts by a generous intervention from Brother Sewing Machines.<\/p>\n

Palma acknowledged the importance of this contribution to the Challenge.<\/p>\n

“Brother’s welcome intervention supplied a significant boost to\u00a0the efforts of the group, providing a huge benefit for the community of Kericho. We are so pleased that the months of planning by a number of determined individuals and subsequent huge physical effort paid off so well.”<\/span><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a370,000 raised<\/h3>\n

The total amount raised so far is around the\u00a0\u00a370,000 mark – a figured that was considerably enhanced by the fact that all the money raised is going towards proving essential new facilities and support for the mothers and babies.<\/p>\n

The entire group travelled at their own expense and paid for all of their own food, hotels and other expenses\u00a0so that all\u00a0the funds raised could go to this worthwhile cause.<\/p>\n
