Starting with embroidery hoops<\/h3>\n

There\u2019s a really good introduction to embroidery hoops on the Burley Sew YouTube channel<\/a> – a great resource for any number of \u201chow-tos\u201d including How to use the embroidery hoop for a home embroidery and sewing machine – hooping tutorial (beginner)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This video shows how use the embroidery hoop for a home embroidery and sewing machine. It also covers the use of different types of embroidery stabilisers and spray adhesive.<\/p>\n

Marking and hooping<\/h3>\n

Hooping has been described as \u201cthe least understood\u201d component of embroidery. This excellent introduction by Kay Hickman has been around for a few years – but it is such an important element of embroidery: it\u2019s worth getting this vital basic technique right.<\/p>\n

Kay\u2019s article on the We all sew website<\/a> is called Embroidery basics: marking and hooping your projects.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the embroidery \u201cmistakes\u201d that we tend to blame on stabilizers or designs may actually be a result of improper hooping techniques.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

Machine appliqu\u00e9 and embroidery<\/h3>\n

This particular offering from the Diaperswappers website<\/a>\u00a0(bear with us on this\u2026) is a first-rate example of how well a tutorial should be presented.<\/p>\n

What you\u2019ll need, step-by-step instructions and really clear photos showing the machine appliqu\u00e9ing of a small onesie. Delightful!<\/em><\/p>\n

Embroidering on towels<\/h3>\n

We thought we\u2019d finish this piece with something that really does have the \u201cwow!\u201d factor. It\u2019s a showcase for some really inspirational work called Fabrics 101: embroidering on terrycloth towels<\/a>\u00a0on the Embroidery Library website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This particular tutorial states<\/p>\n
