I absolutely love my new Novum Pro 9 sewing machine! I had never heard of this make but decided to take a chance as it had all the things I required like the knee lift, drop in bobbin and especially the free arm.

I decided I wanted to make bags after years of crafting on my embroidery machine and so I needed a sturdy machine and this fit the bill perfectly!

So far I’m on my 10th bag! This machine makes bag making a pleasure and it copes well with thick vinyl and interfacing.

The only downside is the needle threader it just doesn’t work well at all and I find it’s much quicker to thread by hand. I’m actually wondering if I can remove it? Apart from that I’m delighted with the Novum Pro 9 it’s a great machine at a …

Very nice machine, unbeatable price for a long arm, I cant fault the stitch quality, it is nice to be able to use a manual stitch, comes with a very clear easy to use instruction book. I have used it twice once for a P.V.C.. clear foot holder with a bias bound edging & also a lavender heart shaped plaque made from suede and sequined voile. I am looking forwards to using the free hand embroidery also make the odd bag or two, larger item's like Duvet cover's and replacing my cushion's. as I believe this machine is the one for the job as it uses up to 1,000 S.P.M., I found a lot of the Brother accessories compatible which is nice also you can make button holes as large as you like. I have been after a sewing machine with a larger throat for a while now. I kept coming back to the q100. I eventually decided to call the shop and seek their advice. What a lovely man. He spent about an hour on the phone asking me what I wanted to sew, how often, fabrics I wanted to use etc. He came up with a list of three and then told me to go away and have a think about it. So I did. And I still came back to the Novum Q100. And how pleased am I. Its a size that's for sure, but not unmanageable. I’m very happy with the machine.

I haven’t used it on the frame yet as I wanted to use the machine on its own first to get used to it but I’ve a few things on it now and I’m very happy with it.

I’ve had this machine a few months now, because I wanted to give it a proper use before leaving my review. I bought this machine for free motion quilting, to use on my Freestyle quilting frame - I’d been using a Brother NV1800Q (which also doubles as my main sewing machine) but wanted more throat space.

I used the Novum straight out of the box to quilt a bed sized quilt, and I’m really impressed with it. I’ve used Brother machines for more than a decade and was a bit nervous to buy a machine from a brand unknown to me, but the Novum actually performs better than the Brother with quilting.

I am very pleased with my new machine. After a tentative start, I soon was able to make progress with help from Palma at the support team. I appreciate the extended space between the needle and the arm which enables more bulky sewing easily. The added level space of the optional surround table is also helpful in keeping the material flat and easy to manipulate. I am now progressing to free embroidery which I have done before and have had no problems transferring to my new machine.

I have been impressed with the Novum Pro Q9 Long Arm Sewing Machine. The delivery was fast, the packaging perfect and the machine undamaged and ready to go. I needed the machine as a portable unit for sewing canvas boat covers. I am not professional, but own two boats that seem to have a lot of canvas! I have just replaced a window in one of the covers and the machine coped very well. I have had to do a slight modification as my sewing twine comes on a 5000m cob that does not fit the machine, but the fix was easy. I have an Adler heavy duty machine set up in my garage, but that may be obsolete now. The Novum Walking Foot is still to be judged. After a postage issue, (not GURs fault) that GUR resolved very promptly, I took delivery of the Novum Pro Q400 sewing machine. I'll be honest, it's not a brand I know anything about so did take a punt - and I am so glad I did. What a great machine!! Feels sturdy in use and is relatively quiet compared to my previous machines. Even today, it's quilting a baby quilt quite happily without a walking foot, but I will be getting one soon. The only cons for me, are that it doesn't have a serpentine stitch which is my favourite quilting stitch and that you can't move the needle manually. Give Novum brand a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised

I bought this machine because I am a quilter and needed a machine with a bigger throat space and as few fancy stitch options as possible. I was not disappointed. This is a wonderful machine that sews like a dream. The stitch precision is fantastic as is the tension. Feeding the fabric through is very smooth and I could not be happier. The machine is extremely good value for money; even more so since I bought it on sale (and it came with a free extension table). The service from GUR was exemplary. I sent two emails with questions and got a swift reply. I was a bit of a nuisance asking them to double check a measurement, and they did. In short, I cannot recommend the shop or the machine enougth, and I look forward to many years of joyful sewing.

My sister bought me this machine as I was looking for a slightly bigger one. I seen this and done loads of research on it but I just kept coming back to it. I am so pleased with the quality of the Janome HD9, it is so sturdy, solid, fast, easy to use and goes through thick seams like you'd expect from a HD machine. I like the separate bobin motor and it means that you don't have to unthread your machine to wind the bobin, it's set up with it's own thread holder. This machine only does straight stitch, no zig-zag, button holes etc etc but it is built to just sew, sew, sew! It is a heavy machine but I'm getting used to that, I think it would be best though, set up on a table or similar and left with it's cover over rather than having to lift and carry every time you want to sew but of course the weight of the machine is also a plus as it won't move about when you drag heavy fabric, leather or other materials …

Having had the machine a few weeks and taken time to get used to its various functions (but not all of them yet!) I have to say I am extremely happy with it. Apart from it looking sleek and ergonomic I love the full colour screen, and video tutorials, the simple, clear way each stitch is described and the modifications you apply (length, width) are displayed on screen as you alter them so no guessing! Using it for quilting a lot of the time the long throat length is perfect, and it has an impressive array of feet and attachments. A nice touch is being able to drop the feed dogs for FMQ from a button on the LCD display screen - no removing the extension table and reaching round to the back of the machine for an up/down lever. I bought this machine for my husband, he was always using mine. I am so jealous.

It is amazing and he is doing so well considering he has only ever sewn skin before. (He was a surgeon) now he has made a quilt which is the envy of al of our children and has a lot of orders from them.

I have not had a look in so far but i am biding my time for when he has a day off. It runs like a dream, so quiet and very easy to manage. The extras are really good. Wish i had one too.

I am loving my new machine; I have struggled with free motion quilting for years using a small Janome domestic machine and a larger husqvarna domestic machine. Skipped stitches eyelashes and broken thread, straight from the box I had no problem and am now quilting with rulers and becoming pleased with the results. Brilliant machine so far, excellent service ordered on a Friday received it on the Saturday. Customer service was excellent when i ordered it and the guy was very helpful. Very easy to use machine and thread. The speed is fantastic, love the cutting button and the threading of the bobbin can be done without re threading the machine. Good instruction book. I have used this machine to make quilts, dolls clothes and fancy dress costumes. The machine has worked well using a variety of fabrics and thicknesses. I particularly like the variable speed especially when sewing difficult fabrics, ie. sequinned, netting, wadding, leather etc. My machine came with the quilt accessories and the feet are essential if intending to make quilts or do top stitching. You can do this with the machine feet included but the walking foot and open toe foot make this much easier. The machine is easy to use and the manual has clear instructions. The needle threader is a joy to use. The machine is quiet. The embroidery stitches provide endless opportunities to personalise garments and the instruction booklet gives clear guidance on how to combine patterns. …

After completing university 2 years ago ive been on the search for a “proffesional” or “propper” sewing machine to manage my bridal wear projects! Whilst i own a janome domestic machine and have done for over 10 years i can honestly say nothing compares to the Janome HD9. I would highly reccomend, everything about is so glorious! The Atelier is quiet, very well lit with multiple LED lights, able to do simple embroidery which looks really professional.
