Reviews for Brother Sewing Machines
Brought this as a replacement for a machine I had had for 14 years. Love it, easy to use and a joy to use.
At this point in time with the sun shining outside I've been spending all my time on the garden but I had a bit of a play with it when it came and I'm very pleased so far. It has lots of features that I'm sure I'll be able to use on future projects. It certainly beats my rather basic 50+ year old ALFA which I inherited from my Mum. If the site permits it, I'll update the review when I've used it properly.
This machine is great, easy to use and comes with excellent instructions. It makes perfect button holes. It does everything that I want from a machine. I am an intermediate sewer and make clothes for myself and husband as well as household items such as curtains. I would recommend it.
I’m enjoying using my new machine it’s sews perfectly and is so quiet. I like that you can choose different speeds with the slider and also the needle down position for pivoting I’m learning what I can achieve with this machine and what it’s capable of.
This is a wonderful machine does everything i want including sewing buttons on and lock stitch which my last machine didn't have
My review is from the perspective of an avid amature seamster. If your a person who likes to make things at home and wants the flexibility to be creative with a variety of different kinds of projects, like me, then you will love this machine. The range of sewing options is enough to keep even the most avid machine emboiderer busy for years. The instruction manual is clear and having a quick guide to the instructions to hand on the screen in front of you is very useful - espeically if you are working with sewing techniques that you tend to use only occasionally. The capability of this machine to handle quilting, machine embroidery, tayloring and home decorating projects is outstanding. The smoothness with which it automatically adjusts to different weights of fabrics is excellent. …
I have only had this machine recently and it's doing fantastic. I am a beginner but have been able to get to grips with everything very quickly. Beautiful stitch options, great pedal speed control, able to move needle, needle threader works very well and threading is pain free overall.
I have not tested the button function. I have so far found literally no issues with this machine and very pleased with the service I received and speedy delivery.
I originally bought a Brother sewing machine, and it was very good, but I ideally wanted one that was more robust. I decided on a different brand, but that was front loading bobbing, and that was a nightmare for me. This is the machine for me. Top loading easy load bobbin. Automatic back stitch lovely movement and quite quiet. Very good beginner's sewing machine.
I got this after a friend had done all the research whilst looking for a more sophisticated machine for her daughter’s university course. This model was perfect for me. It’s basic but not too basic and the automatic threader is brilliant. The website was easy to use and my new machine was delivered within a couple if days of being ordered on Boxing Day. As I had been to John Lewis and they had absolutely no sewing machines in stock I was thrilled to get this.
I have just bought the machine, and I am very pleased with it so far. There is quite a lot to learn, but I am working through the book. I liked the way the machine dealt with quite heavy fabric, easily.
I’m making a handmade wardrobe and wanted to upgrade a basic machine with one that does buttonholes, bar tacks and utility stitches. After quite a bit of research I decided on the Brother A16 as it seems to be a well built machine with functions that I’ll find useful for sewing jeans, jackets, shirts etc. I particularly like that it copes well with heavy fabrics like denim due to the 7 piece feed dog, and that it has a 1 step auto sizing buttonhole function with 3 buttonhole styles. I also like the ease of the automatic needle threader, the start/stop button, the speed slide control, and the jog dial stitch selector. This machine has an overcasting function which is really useful when making clothes, although I do have a separate overlocker for finishing seams. So far, I&…
